NSCA Breeder, Owner, Handler Award

The NSCA Breeder, Owner, Handler Award is designed to recognize a NSCA member who is the breeder and owner and exclusive handler of the Shiba Inu earning the greatest number of points in AKC licensed or member shows during the preceding year. The award will be presented at the annual Awards Banquet at the NSCA National Specialty.

The award will be a plaque stating, “20__ NSCA Breeder/Owner/Handler”, dog's name, owner’s name (as shown on AKC registration), breeder’s name, National Shiba Club of America. A picture of the recipient will be printed in the Shiba E-News and posted on the NSCA Awards webpage.

Application period is May 1 through June 30, 2023. Application form may be obtained on the NSCA Awards webpage or through the Awards Committee Chairperson. All application materials may be submitted electronically or hard copy. Provide copies of official documentation with the application to verify authenticity. An incomplete application (including verification documentation) will not be processed. Note: Do not apply for this award if the dog was not exclusively handled by the Breeder/Owner.

Qualification:

  1. 15 points will be awarded for an All-Breed Best In Show (BIS) award or National Specialty Best of Breed award (BISS).
  2. 10 points will be awarded for an All-Breed Reserve Best In Show (RBIS) award.
  3. 9 points will be awarded for National Specialty Top Twenty winner.
  4. 8 points will be awarded for a Non-Sporting Group First award or NSCA Regional Specialty Best of Breed award.
  5. 6 points will be awarded for a Non-Sporting Group Second award or Independent Specialty Best of Breed award.
  6. 4 points will be awarded for a Non-Sporting Group Third award.
  7. 2 points will be awarded for a Non-Sporting Group Fourth award.
  8. 8 points will be awarded for a National Specialty Best of Opposite Sex award.
  9. 6 points will be awarded for a Regional Specialty Best of Opposite Sex award.
  10. 6 points will be awarded for a NSCA National Specialty Select, Award of Merit, Best Bred by Exhibitor or Best of Winners award.
  11. 4 points will be awarded for a Regional Specialty Select, Award of Merit, Best Bred by Exhibitor or Best of Winners award.
  12. 5 points will be awarded for Platinum GCH.
  13. 4 points will be awarded for Gold GCH.
  14. 3 points will be awarded for Silver GCH.
  15. 2 points will be awarded for Bronze GCH.
  16. 1 point will be awarded for GCH.
  17. Provide official documentation of above. Documentation for items 1-11 should include full name of show, date of show, placement received and points awarded.
  18. Copy of AKC registration.
  19. Statement of NCSA membership of owner, by name. This will be verified by the Awards Committee.
