NSCA Member Club of the Year

The NSCA Member Club of the Year is designed to recognize member clubs that have performed a variety of events to foster growth, promote camaraderie among members, and support public service, responsible dog ownership, education, rescue, and benefit to the Shiba Inu. The award will be presented at the Annual Awards Banquet at the NSCA National Specialty.

The award will be one free year’s membership and a certificate (or plaque) stating, “20__ NSCA Member Club of the Year, Member Club name, Certificate of Recognition, National Shiba Club of America.” The award will be listed in the Shiba E-News and posted on the NSCA Awards webpage.

Application period is May 1 through June 30, 2023. Application form may be obtained on the NSCA Awards webpage or through the Awards Committee Chairperson. All application materials may be submitted electronically or hard copy. Provide copies of official documentation with the application to verify authenticity. An incomplete application (including verification documentation) will not be processed.

Qualification:

  1. List all club sponsored conformation shows held in the previous calendar year (for example, the 2015 award reflects data from calendar year 2014). Include the event, date and location. 5 points will be awarded per event.
  2. List all club sponsored performance events and/or companion events (agility, obedience, rally, tracking, etc) held in the previous calendar year. Include the event, date and location. 5 points will be awarded per event.
  3. List any club sponsored fun match held in pervious calendar year. Include event, date and location. 2 points will be awarded per event.
  4. List all club sponsored educational activities featuring the Shiba Inu held in the previous calendar year (this may include booths at events). Include event, date and location. 10 points will be awarded per event.
  5. List any club sponsored activity promoting public service and/or responsible dog ownership for the previous calendar year. Include event, date and location. 7 points will be awarded per event.
  6. AKC Conformation (championship) titles held by club members that are documented NSCA members. 2 points will be awarded per title.
  7. AKC Grand Championship titles held by club members that are documented NSCA members. 5 points will be awarded per title.
  8. Award of Merit, Registry of Merit, Best in Show, Best in Show Specialty Awards achieved by club members that are documented NSCA members. 5 points will be awarded per achievement.
  9. AKC companion event/performance titles held by members that are documented NSCA members. 2 points will be awarded per novice title, 3 points will be awarded per open level, 4 points will be awarded per advanced title, 5 points will be awarded per post advanced title. 10 points will be awarded per champion title. Titles earned in the following sports can be counted for this award – conformation, obedience, rally, tracking, agility, therapy dog, barn hunt, coursing ability, dock diving, flyball, FAST CAT, scent work, search & rescue, and trick dog.
  10. Miscellaneous: Temperament testing, event to raise funds for charitable foundation, event to raise funds for rescue, therapy/educational visits, CGC training and test, TDI or Delta Society training and test, performance demonstrations, other award recipients from member club, other members holding a NSCA elected office, other members actively volunteering on a NSCA committee. All work accredited to the award must be by documented NSCA members. 3 points will be awarded per event or achievement.
  11. Short discussion addressing how the Member Clubs help support and promote the NSCA mission and goals.
  12. NSCA membership in good standing (NSCA dues are paid).
  13. Note: A member of more than one Member Club must select which club receives credit for their contributions. Points may not be split or duplicated between multiple clubs.
  14. Note: Only titles for Shiba Inu are eligible to be submitted toward an award.
  15. Provide documentations of titles, events (AKC certificate of award, match flyer, notice of award or title in NSCA or AKC publication, premium list, etc).
  16. Provide documentation of NSCA member names for which work or titles are being credited.
